It doesn't seem like New Year's Eve to me for some reason.
Probably because Limo Man is out driving for New Year's Eve.
Maybe he'll be around for New Year's Day dinner.
I hope you all have a very safe and Happy Happy New Year!

And to all a good night.
I'm off to do some major cooking now.

Rainy Day Blues
It's been raining for the last 4 days here in beautiful Sunny Southern California.
It's been hard to get into the Christmas spirit for me.
I think it had something to do with the Econ class that I took this last semester.
Microeconomics is HARD!!!
Thankfully I'm done with the with the class and am just waiting for my grade.
We put up the fake tree yesterday and that helped a little.
I'm wondering if I'll ever come out of this funk.
Anyone have any good jokes.....Something????

Comments
I have been receiving some really strange comments on the blog site lately and really do not want to have to "privatize" my blog.
I changed my settings so that blog spam was not allowed.
Wow, I didn't know it would be so crazy.
That's what our world is coming to I guess.
Oh well......

Limo Man REALLY does have another job.
Yes folks, LimoMan really does a another job. We refer to it as Job 1. He even has a desk and an office to prove it. Oh, and did I mention that it doesn't always look like this?
This is the shrine.
Oh Limo Man can be soooooo neat when he puts his mind to it.

Reno October '10
We decided to go to Reno to celebrate our anniversary, Janice and Dean's anniversary, and all of our birthdays. I think this banner says it all. We took a tour of downtown Reno with Janice and Dean and boy has it changed!
These guys were having way too much fun being silly. Poor Dean was recovering from shoulder surgery and will be having more surgery tomorrow. We're thinking of you Dean!
We stayed at the Grand Sierra Resort and they had a bowling alley (actually about 50 of them), a driving range, a miniature golf course, and all kinds of other fun things to do. This is the driving range where you could practice hitting golfballs into the water. If you hit one of the islands out in the water they had prizes for you. And no, we didn't even attempt it. We did however see Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Ranger band. It was a great show!
And all of those white things in the water? Floating golfballs! It was truly something to see.
It rained almost the entire time we were in Reno and this is a look out of our hotel room. There is a huge RV parking lot on the side of the resort.
We had a great time in Reno and J and D it was great to see you guys! Great fun, great food, great drinks, and great friends!

I found this little poem on the refrigerator.....
A Woman's Prayer:
"Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom to understand my husband, the love to forgive him and the patience for his moods. Because, Lord, if I pray for strength, I'll just beat him to death."
God bless you Limo Man for bringing the funny.....

Beautiful Flowers
Limo Man came home one night with a beautiful centerpiece from a baby shower. I had to take the flowers outside after a few days because they started to drop all over the place.
They were sure beautiful while they lasted though.

The Beach
I work at the Beach.
No, not that sandy beach silly!
Cal State Long Beach....the only California State University campus that has the name "beach" in its name.
This is the Administration building which is right down the hill from where I work.
You can barely see the pyramid peeking out in the background. The pyramid contains the healthclub, convention center, and sports arena. Chances are you have seen the pyramid in a few movies and commercials.
To the left of this walkway is the student union and I guess the sculpture I was trying to shoot didn't turn out so good. It reminds me of steel sails. And goodness knows what these pieces are. I thought they were interesting though.
There's more to see at the beach so stay tuned.

I Remember....
When Tyler was going to Cal State Long Beach and we all decided to go to a taping of the "Tonight Show". This was before Leno left and the whole Conan O'Brien debacle happened. Oh to happier times. We went to Burbank to see the taping and had a blast. Leno does a whole before the show schtick with the audience and we were fortunate to get to go up on stage to meet the man himself. Okay, in all reality, Limo Man pulled me up on stage with him.As you can see in the picture which was actually a polaroid, Leno is totally casual in his jeans and workshirt before the show and totally different in all his GQness on the show. We got to see Dustin Hoffman and Chris Matthews along with the Tonight Show band. It was a blast!

A Crappy Work Day & Then.....
Yesterday was one of those days when I just wanted to turn left instead of right to go to work. I just wasn't in the mood and Limo Man was on his way to San Diego. I was having problems with my smart (ahem) phone and I couldn't bring up the message that he had sent me that included this picture. And then the day suddenly got better.
For those of you who don't know what this is, it's the Hotel Del Coronado down in San Diego. I've always wanted to stay there because it's a piece of California history.
Maybe someday....

Monkeyboy and the Five Fingers
These are Fivefingers shoes made by Vibram. You can only find these at REI and the Vibram website (unless there are other outlets that carry them which I am unaware of) I gave these to Limo Man for his birthday this year and he couldn't have been more surprised. Finally, I was able to surprise the man.I think you can see why they are called "Five Fingers"
They are great for water sports, yoga, climbing, and various other activities. Just don't go out on the hot asphalt with them on. You won't like it.
WARNING: These are only for true monkeyboys and Limo Man is the KING of the monkeyboys!

The Lights of Las Vegas
These shots were taken around 7pm. I was amazed that I was able to get such color. The Aria hotel is in the background and the Marriott Chateau is in the foreground. The 2 towers with the blue lights are the new Cosmopolitan resort.
Bally's has the purplish hue, Treasure Island is behind it and on the far end is the Trump Tower.
The Polo Towers is where my Mom and her friend Diana stayed recently. Behind the Polo Towers is the Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo has one of the best brew pubs in Vegas.
The lights of City Center.
If you double click on any of these shots you'll be able to see the pictures clearer.

Las Vegas By Day
Early in the morning the city center gets the morning sun and that's why the glass looks so yellow. That's the new Aria hotel.
The Prada Store at City Center for all you shopping enthusiasts.
The tower on your right is one of the 2 new towers of the Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino. It doesn't open until mid December. The building on the left is part of City Center.
So here I am taking a picture of myself in the mirrored sliding glass door on our balcony. It was Limo Man's idea. It's amazing how clear everything is in the reflection. The big building behind me is the Planet Hollywood Westgate Tower. We actually went over to take a look at what they had to offer and got stuck in the "Time Share Trap". At the end of the presentation our guide started to take us into "the room" and Limo Man and I both stopped dead in our tracks and said "We aren't going into the room". Period...
The Wynn on the left and the Stratosphere tower on the far right. I don't know what the big building in the middle is but they seem to be still working on it.
City Center on the left and both of the towers of the Cosmopolitan on the right.
Las Vegas is growing by leaps and bounds but with the economy the way it is today they have a 14% unemployment rate and most of the hotels are working with skeleton crews. Sad...

The Signature - Las Vegas
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome to Limo Man's birthday hangout.
It's a penthouse suite on the 34th floor of Tower 3 at the Signature.
Please come in...
We have a full kitchen for your cooking and beverage mixing pleasure.
A lovely dining set that leads into the living area complete with a balcony outside of the slider.
And here is the oh so plush bedroom. Ooh La La!!!
And what suite is worth it if it doesn't have a huge jacuzzi tub with a separate shower, 2 separate vanities (1 for him and 1 for her)?
And then there's this....
Limo Man can't resist a photo op in a jacuzzi tub. REALLY!!

July 18th- TRAIN at the Orange County Fair
Limo Man gave me Train concert tickets for Valentine's Day this year. Only thing is....the concert wasn't until July 18th.
This is the backdrop on stage for the band. The beginning of the concert was the sound of a train rolling down the tracks. It was awesome!!!!
Jimmy Stafford is the lead guitarist for the band and that's Scott Underwood on the drums.
The lead singer for the band is Pat Monahan. He has got to be one of the best singers ever!
Pat is great at audience participation. He saw this big banana in the crowd and had the guy who won it for his girl come down on stage. Then he sang a song to the girl. She was in heaven.
Here's another shot of Jimmy Stafford the lead guitarist. He started a Wine Club so if you're interested check out the Train Wine club. He has a great blog.
Part of the VIP package that Limo Man gave me was a meet and greet backstage with the band. Pat is signing our picture and Limo Man is cutting up with Scott and Jimmy.
These guys were so nice to take the time for their fans.
God we love these guys!

Friday A.M. / Driving to Work on Pacific Coast Highway
It's Friday morning and I am driving up PCH to work and it's sprinkling. The sun is out but it's sprinkling. I had to get my cellphone out and take a picture of this rainbow. It was so pretty to see.
Oh and those dark spots are rain and dirt on the windshield.
Even with all the crazies out there on the road it's soooooo nice to see the ocean on the way to and from Long Beach.

Something to Ponder
On the way home from work yesterday there was a silver honda in front of me that had a license plate frame that said the following:
If you're gonna ride my ass...at least pull my hair!
I couldn't stop laughing about that one.
Does that make me sick or something?

My trek to the parade
I walked most of the way to the parade and the first event that I came to was the annual pancake in the park breakfast.
Once I hit Main Street I wanted to get a shot of the outrageous decorations that people use to hold their spots for the parade viewing.
There is a marathon first thing in the morning on the 4th and here were a few of the last to finish. Well at least they finished! It's more than I can say for me...
These guys weren't about to bother with any little cheap plastic chairs. No sir, just move the living room outside. It's all about comfort when you are watching the parade with a cold one.
The sign at this tiki bar says "Public Drunkeness Prohibited". Yeah right....
That's Stacy in the dark blue shirt. She is on the parade committee and was gracious enough to let me hang out in the VIP area of the viewing stands for the parade. Thanks Stacy, Sue, and Mike! It was great meeting all of you.
Oh and who is this fine looking gent? Why it's Limo Man of course! He rescued me and took me down to the VIP area so I could get some great shots of the parade.
