This pic was taken in the Cosmopolitan and the rose is on the back side of City Center. Who knew?
We stayed at the Encore for the first time. We had to walk about an hour to get to the tram until we finally took Limo Man's suggestion to go another route.
That's how I was able to get the back side of the hotel in this shot. Vegas is so much fun! It's always a new adventure.

More Cosmopolitan Art
A violin with someone's head on it. Weird?
Not as weird as these carvings! You can see little faces carved into these figurines if you click on the picture to make it bigger.
They had these sitting areas that had oversized furniture and pieces like this jack.
It's definitely worth a trip to the Cosmopolitan to check this all out...There's even more than I have posted. Oh, and check out the pool area on the 4th floor.

Cosmopolitan Art
On the second and third floor of the Cosmopolitan there is some really great artwork. I couldn't resist taking a picture of this piece. Unless you are a true Sole Sister you might not appreciate it!
Limo Man getting ready to look into this ancient Kaleidoscope like device. Doesn't he look like the explorer type?
These reminded me of my new Ray Bans. Okay, not really but kinda....
Woof! I was lucky to get this shot FINALLY with no other people in the middle. These dogs attracted kids like crazy! Although who could blame them!
This is a close up of part of the picture on the wall behind the dogs.
I may have just died and gone to heaven!
OUCH....Getting stepped on with one of these would be painful.

The Cosmopolitan
Monday morning we walked to the Convention Center, got on a tram and went to explore the new Cosmopolitan resort in Las Vegas. When we first walked in to our left was the bar.
Bond is the name of the bar. We had breakfast across the way from the bar.
Chandelier is the 3 story bar next to the Casino. It actually resembles a huge chandelier. It's really impressive.
Here is another level of chandelier.
The beadwork was amazing.
Oh, but there is more to come! Wait until my next post when you can see some of the artwork.

More Drag Races...
The setups that these teams have is amazing. They mostly all have several car haulers and motorcoaches that could house an entire family. They have elaborate eating areas for their team and people that is above and beyond. This is the Bernstein camp.
Brandon Bernstein's crew working on his car before the race. They are the Copart team.
Tony Schumacher's car and one of his crew. They call Tony "The Sarge". We actually saw him leave the crew area and when he walked by us he said "It's time to kick some butt".
It's always important to have the military presence at the races. Limo Man actually took this picture and got all of these guys to look over his way. He brings out the ham in everyone!
Wait.....who is this guy?
Why it's John Force OF COURSE! He's a legend in the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association).
Can anyone say "Burn some rubber baby?"
And here's the Sarge doing a little rubber burning himself!
You've heard the saying "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" Well, there has to be a little glitz and glam even at the drag races in Vegas.
Don Schumacher Racing is BIG. That's Tony Schumacher's dad.
No race would be complete without the Geico Guys.
Limo Man brought out the ham in these guys too!

Las Vegas Motor Speedway - Sun. Apr 3, 2011
Why yes, we went to Vegas to go to the drag races.
We flew over on Saturday and got our drink on and Sunday we got up early and went to Las Vegas Motor Speedway (aka The Shrine) but of course ANY Motor Speedway is a shrine.
Las Vegas Motor Speedway has it's own dragstrip as well, and of course they call it "The Strip". Why? Because it's on the Las Vegas Strip or way down from it!
Yes, Old Guys DO Rule!
The NHRA Nitro Alley (in case this is too dark for you to read)
Limo Man loved this:
GOD IS GREAT,
BEER IS GOOD,
PEOPLE ARE CRAZY!
This new style of backpack is courtesy of the Encore Hotel Valet service. Limo Man needed a "catchall" for our ear protection.
Is this man clever or WHAT????
