Furlough Friday & Our first day in Albuquerque N.M.

Today is a furlough day and I have the day off. While checking a few things on line Limo Man brought me the camera as a subtle reminder that I haven't uploaded any pictures of our trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
So here are a few that we took walking around in Old Town Albuquerque:
We kept seeing bunches of chiles hung on the front of building and homes and found that they are a sign of good luck in New Mexico.
This is a church in the middle of Old Town across from the square. It was a quaint place to sit and peoplewatch.
It's amazing to me how Limo Man can spot a state flag. It started in Alaska and will continue wherever we go I'm afraid.
MOOSE!!!!
After a second take I can only imagine what was going through Limo Man's head when he saw this!
Even New Mexico has their own version of a cat house....
Limo Man loves to pose and have his picture taken with inanimate objects. In this case it's a cigar store indian. What a hambone!
This guy and his daughter were performing for tips on one of the side streets in Old Town. I'm sure he didn't like the fact that I took this picture and didn't tip him. Oh well.....

Happy October 1st!!!

Limo Man and I are off to Albuquerque, New Mexico in the morning.
We're going for our 10 year anniversary and will be attending the International Balloon Fiesta which is an annual event. We're looking forward to snooping New Mexico as well. Sunday we'll be driving to Santa Fe to check it out.
We'll be back on Monday and hopefully we'll have some great shots to share.

See ya when we get back! Have a great weekend!

September 2009

The beginning of the new semester can be such a challenge.
I am back to taking a macroeconomics class and I'm not sure how that's going to go. Economics requires a handle on the math. That's a handle I have such a hard time grasping. I'm just not a math minded person.

On the one hand I'm lucky to still have a job. On the other hand the "U" is experiencing furloughs (2 a month) and pay cuts. Not to mention classes being cut, fees being raised, and students being irate about not being able to get into classes.
It just doesn't make for a happy experience all the way around.

I like to think of myself as a pretty upbeat positive person but this semester is bringin' me down.

That reminds me of a song by Queen....."Don't bring me dowwwwn, Bruce, don't bring me dowwwwwnnn"

Wait, What did I just say?

I'd better go now.....

Viva Las Vegas.....Palms Place Style

WHO DAT???
We were lucky enough to be able to stay at the Palm's Place in a beautiful luxury condo for Limo Man's birthday. The Palm's Place is a 52 story condominium tower behind the Palms Casino and Tower and the Fantasy Tower.
The tower on the left is the Palms Casino Tower and the one on the right is the Fantasy Tower. The playboy bunny head is on the other side of the tower so you can't see it from this view.
Here's the living room and kichen area of the condo. So plush!!!
Here's a shot of the bedroom and jacuzzi tub in the bedroom.
Yep, it's impossible to keep Limo Man out of a tub photo op!
It's a good thing that this picture was taken from 25 stories up. It doesn't show the whole whale on the beach thing....MUCH

Boz Skaggs and Michael McDonald at Pala

A little over a week after we got back from Alaska we went to Pala Casino and Resort to see Boz Skaggs and Michael McDonald perform. We actually saw Michael McDonald walk throught the lobby as we were checking in. It was a great show and we had a great time while we were there!
Limo Man got this shot of Boz Skaggs rehearsing from our suite.
Limo Man was amazed by the size of the walk in shower. You could've fit 6 people in there!
I love a good jacuzzi tub and Limo Man likes to have his cocktails in the tub! Oops it looks like the photographer had a few as well.

Goodnight and Goodbye Anchorage!

We got to Anchorage and after a battle with the front desk crew at the Captain Cook hotel we finally got settled in our room. (Limo Man had originally booked a junior suite with a king sized bed on the Captain's Deck level of the hotel. When we got to our room it had a full size bed in it. Well, if you know Limo Man you know he's 6'4" and both of us weren't going to fit in that tiny bed). So we had to go down to the front desk and have them change our room for us. As it turned out we got a 2 room suite with privileges on the Captain's Deck. The Captain's Deck is on the 17th floor of the hotel and offers free hors d'oeurves and soft drinks in the evening with a free hot breakfast in the mornings. They also had a big screen t.v. and a great view of Anchorage.
After we finally got settled in our room Limo Man wasn't feeling very good so I left to go shopping for awhile. When I got back from my shopping adventure we went out for a drink. It was only 10:30pm when we left to walk over to the restaurant. When we got back it took a while for us to get this shot but it was 1:30am when we finally got it. This truly is the land of the Midnight Sun!

Whittier, Alaska Our last port.....

The ship actually pulled into port in Whittier on Tuesday night but they wouldn't let us off until Wednesday morning.
We took a tour bus through this tunnel and stopped at a park for about an hour.
There were a bunch of small icebergs that had separated from another glacier. The colors were just so beautiful that we had to get some shots.
