Limo Man and I went to Memphis Tennessee for the first annual brick ceremony at St. Jude's Children's Hospital. That's our brick at the top. We got to choose what we wanted the brick to say. If you are ever there our brick is just to the left of the front doors of the hospital. We got a tour of the hospital, had a fabulous dinner the night before the ceremony and got to see some of the kids who had been treated there and hear their success stories at St. Jude's. The day of the ceremony we all got to see our bricks outside of the hospital so of course we had to take pictures! Later that afternoon the hospital provided us with a killer Memphis barbeque lunch.
While we were there in Memphis we got to see a lot of the city and we visited Graceland, Staxx Records, and Sun Studios. We did a lot of walking in Memphis (now I can see why Marc Cohn wrote that song) because there was just so much history to see! We saw the Peabody Ducks, the Lorraine motel where Martin Luther King was assasinated, the Orpheum theater, the Fender guitar factory, and who could forget Hueys with all the frills! We also walked down to the Mississippi River and took a walk along the Riverwalk. Several of our walks were over to Beale street to get a cold one or to try one of the fabulous restaurants. What a town!
We even caught a Memphis Redbirds game. The park was right across the street from our hotel. We had such a great time in Memphis!
