When we landed in Sitka it was COLD and foggy. It stayed that way the entire day. Limo Man and I ventured out from the rest of the crusiers and took a walkabout around the town. We probably walked 4-5 miles around the town and ended up where all the tourist traps were.
More floatplanes!
On our walkabout we discovered the Sitka Tribe of Alaska Social Services Department. I'm certain not too many people on our ship got a picture of this!
Okay, this is a really horrible picture of the top of this totem but I couldn't leave out the very top of it.
I'm not sure if Limo Man was putting his hat on or trying to hide his face when I took this one. It just shows how high this totem was.
Look at this will ya? What a happy guy!
Sitka is entrenched with Russian history. Here is a Russian Orthodox church that was pretty impressive.
There were lots of small islands around the town of Sitka that had single residences on them. Oh to own your own little island away from it all!
We're cold and getting ready to get back on the launch to take us back to the ship. Bye Bye Sitka!
We're waiting to get on the launch and this is a shot of the ship from the pier. The launches were bigger than they looked! They each held about 75-100 people.
